The Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses - Episode 10 - The Return of Aislyn Aphelion

In which and old enemy returns. Will our heroes manage to hawk the ancient alien artifact they legally procured from Baron Helion? Will they manage to outrun the enigmatic villainess? Will Reagan give two craps? No, Not really, and not a chance.

Thank you all for listening to the very first season of The Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses.  Especially those of you managed to stick around for the long run.  You are few, but I know you're out there and I greatly appreciate your willingness to give me a shot.

The Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses - Episode 09 - Platypus, the Bounty Hunter

In which our hero... gets drunk and falls asleep, apparently.  Awesome.  Well, our side kicks... are abducted by a third rate bounty hunter.  Is anyone really trying at this point?

Okay, this time, I promise: no more platypus jokes.  Seriously, I'm done.  It's okay to go back into the water.

Huh... Okay.

So... fiddling with the new band around my finger. It's the only real thing at this point that makes me feel like I'm married. Extremely tired.

The Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses - Episode 08 - The Battle for Turgel

Tonight's episode is: the Battle for Turgel.  In which our heroes must rush to the aid of a small resistance group fighting against a tyrannical Baron.  Because he's a jerk and that's what heroes do.

While I am a nerd and certainly entertain the idea of jet packs, the practical and logical side tends to give the nerd in me a swift wedgie.  I really enjoyed writing this ad.  It definitely played into the 1940's to 50's feel that I originally wanted to play up (but later got overwritten to better flesh out the universe of Captain Novarider).

The Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses - Episode 07 - the Revenge of Galabrax

In which our heroes must face the return of an old enemy.  Novarider is denied some of his most valued crew members... and Reagan.

I think I'm done with the Christ on a Cracker joke as of writing this post.  It'll show up a couple more times, but it's definitely not going to be a running gag.  I think the intention was to turn it into a returning joke, but I had so many other better ones, now it's just a bit of product placement more than anything.

I knew that Galabrax was going to have to return when I first created the character.  He was fun to write and fun to act (although he's killer on the throat).  He's almost a character who writes himself, which is convenient for me.  I'm just sad that he's not in this season all that much - although he has a much bigger presence in the second season (coming soon).

In listening to this episode again, one of the problems that I'm shaking my head at (other than the otherwise visual humor), is that Captain Jake sounds too similar to Galabrax over the hailing frequency.  I suppose that's just a problem that I have to deal with since I'm certainly no professional voice actor, and I don't have the money to pay one.

In non-the Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses news, not to long ago, I finished fleshing out a new side series idea.  I still have to put in a little bit more thought on presentation as well as finalizing the scripting, but it could prove to be an interesting diversion to work on The Amazing Adventures.  I don't think that it will turn into a main stay for the blog, so much as just be something that I try to put out once a month to keep things from being kind of stale.

I do have plans for a different type of series for "the off-season" of the Amazing Adventures, but right now I still have a lot of work to do on the second season.  I'm probably going to sit down a flesh out a concept as well as (hopefully) a rough of the first episode.  I have some vacation time coming soon, so that might be the time that I put some work into it.

The Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses - Episode 06 - The Hellion Wing

Tonight's episode is the Hellion Wing, in which our heroes discover a lost Confederacy warship.  One must return to his past, and one will die.  No, seriously.  Someone is going to die this episode (my bet is on Reagan).

Everyone give a "Woot" for episode six!  Ev...  woot.  Fine, whatever.  At least it's on time this week.

The Audio Drama Directory

I am a dick.

For those of you who don't know, there's a database out there called The Audio Drama Directory, basically filling the harrowing job of building a listing of various audio dramas for the world to consume.  It's awesome.  If you haven't checked it out, you should.  Seriously, there are a lot of great shows listed here, and the guy (his name is Jeremy) is basically doing this for free - as far as I can tell.

The Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses - Episode 05 - The Royal Pirate Hunters

Tonight's episode is The Royal Pirate Hunters.  In which our heroes must face their deadliest enemy, yet: a pair of bored Confederated counts.  Can they escape the sleepy Count Urban Cometdust? Probably.  But watch anyway!

The last few weeks have apparently been a bunch of firsts for me.  From hitting 1000 site views and still going strong at 1652 at time of writing this, having a single episode make over 100 total views (apparently less than 10% of hits actually watch one of my episodes - awesome), and today for the first time, I forget to post the new episode.  GOING STRONG, BABY! WOO!

The Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses - Episode 04 - The Artifact From Beyond

Tonight's episode is: The Artifact From Beyond.  In which our heroes heroically hawk a priceless alien artifact they stole.  Thrilling.  And a new menace emerges from the shadows to... menace the crew of the Cabalina.

Okay, full disclosure.  I like voicing a girl.  While I'm sharing, I would take it hard from the exit only if it was coming from either Edward James Olmos or Tim Curry.  If this were high school, this is where someone would snicker at me and  mockingly say, "gay."  Thankfully, I'm secure enough in my manhood to not let that get under my skin.  So, y'know... I am rubber, you are glue.  Everything you say bounces off of me and sticks to you.  Neener, neener.

A Newbie Moment

Okay, I'm probably going have a few of these in the next few months.  I promise to keep them as minimal as possible, but in the meantime bear with me.   Point is because we share the same composer (badass Bradley Rains, bestest musician in the world), LoadingReadyRun used a miniscule - miniscule - clip from The Amazing Adventures soundtrack.  *Squeeee*

I know this is an incredibly small victory, and in no way does it really mean anything.  No, I take that back.  It means they were digging around for a clip of dramatic music, asked Bradley, and he was like, "here."  Doesn't matter.  Don't care.  At this point I do have to take small victories, like hitting 1200 views today.  Or noticing the fact that I have five consistent viewers that I'm sure are not related to me.  Or that I know have a wiki on Audio-Drama.com - and no, it doesn't matter that I was the one who created it.

Okay, I'm done now.  Switching gears, I'm still working on adding another show to the blog.  Not that I particularly need to make my life more busy, but I figure that it won't hurt to have an extra show around for entertainment's sake.  The current concept is game of Mutants & Masterminds (second edition) that I'm hopefully going to be GM'ing for a friend sometime soon come hell or high water.  I just need to figure out the process of recording over Skype, as for some reason I can't get Mixcraft 5 to capture his end of the conversation.  Any recommendations on that would be more than useful.

There will be action, drama, tears, laughter, and chances are good that there will be a time-traveling Marmeset with a jet pack and a gun that makes the player characters violently vomit.  Look for that along with other shows to hopefully come soon (more realistically in the off season of The Amazing Adventures).

The Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses - Episode 03 - The Marauding Horses

Tonight's episode is The Marauding Horses!  In which our heroes must seize a cargo of unfathomable treasure in the face of an elite corps of Royal Confederated soldiers.  One of our heroes will die... probably.  Okay, not really, but your watching now, so the hook works.

This was one of the first episodes that I realized that I would need to do a major rewrite.  While some of the current relationships were there, the jokes just weren't clicking. Originally, Cartwright was very ambiguously

Just a Nerdy Aside

Okay, for those of you who don't know: Mechwarrior Online is a thing.  It is an awesome thing as any Battletech fan can tell you.  Every time I jump onto this game's site, I immediately begin simmering in my pure joy for this series' triumphant return to the PC, and of this series finally getting a loving touch - much unlike the brutalization it received with Mechwarrior 4 (oh, that's right, I have plans for you Mechwarrior 4, dark and sinister pans; and don't think you're getting away clean either Harmony Gold).
While I certainly love the clack of the dice, the careful analyzation of an ever developing situation and implementation of tactics, and calculation of distance in hexes; I also love viewing the world from my modified CPLT-K2 Catapult, rapidly switching systems, carefully monitoring my heat, and the satisfying way an enemy 'Mech collapses to the ground.  In short, I can't wait for this game to release.  Now if I can just get my computer up to spec...

St. Ferris' Day

Another year has come, and once again, it is that special day for lovers everywhere.  The day when many a young couple will go to the local fair or amusement park; share a romantic meal of fair chili and watered down soda; spend ten dollars apiece to share a cozy seat on the Ferris Wheel; and enjoy a romantic view of the park while hoping that the guy in the chair a head of them doesn't vomit from too many deep fried twinkies and prehistoric corn dogs while he's above them.

The Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses

Lady's and gentlemen. Boys and Girls. I am proud to present to you:

My new audio drama, the Amazing Adventures of Captain Farr Novarider and the Wild Horses!

Tonight's episode is: The Betrayal at Proxima Serpentis VI.

I should make quick mention that this episode does use some strong language. If at work, you may want to put head phones on.

**The video is no longer here.  I've moved it over here instead.**

Just a quick note, all: this is audio only; the title card is just a place holder.
